Dr. Alan F. Cauldwell, Ph.D. Dr. Cauldwell is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, Hunter College, the Union Institute, and the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. He trained at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, The Fifth Avenue Center for Psychotherapy in New York City, where he was on the staff for six years, and the Greenwich House Counseling Center, where he specialized in addictions counseling. In addition, Dr. Cauldwell received his certification in substance abuse counseling from the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. He is a level 1 NLP practitioner and specializes in EMDR (level II).

EXPERIENCE:

Dr. Cauldwell has been in private practice for twenty-two years. He is on the faculty and is a supervisor and training analyst at the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center. As a staff psychotherapist at The Fifth Avenue Center for Psychotherapy in Greenwich Village, Dr. Cauldwell worked with a wide variety of people, focusing on a range of issues, including family, marital, and other relationship issues, emotional disorders (including depression and anxiety disorders), trauma, and recovery issues. He has been affiliated with the St. Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital's and Mount Sinai Hospital's Rape Crisis Intervention Programs in New York City, working with survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence. He is affiliated with the Caron Foundation, one of the leading substance abuse rehabilitation centers on the east coast. Dr. Cauldwell is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. He is trained in hypnotherapy and meditation; these methods are utilized in the treatment of stress management. Dr. Cauldwell uses EMDR in his work with trauma survivors. In addition, he has found EMDR to be helpful in treating a variety of other problems, including performance anxiety, phobias, unresolved grief, and eating disorders. In addition to his affiliation with SAGE, Dr. Cauldwell has a private practice in Manhattan. He is a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut.
